Did you feel like you were getting
your period when you got pregnant?
Other Early Pregnancy Symptoms
Did you feel like you were getting your period when
you got pregnant?
My biggest symptom!! Had it with both pregnancies. I am 10 weeks
now, and I still wake up some mornings really feeling like
AF is here.
I was totally sure my AF was about to start at any minute. My DH
had to insist I take a test, because I didn't want to waste one when I
was so obviously premenstrual. :)
Not for me – I had a few odd twinges in my lower abdomen, but
nothing at all like my usual pre-AF cramps.
I usually don't have many symptoms of AF coming, but I do get
tired and a little irritable (not noticeable by others). I was
certain AF was coming because I was both of these, plus I broke out –
EXCEPT, I broke out on my back and shoulders, which wasn't the
norm! I also had a temp dip that made me think AF was coming!
What was so strange for me was that I had a bit of AF cramping
without any of the heaviness or bloating that I normally get with
it, & that's what made me suspicious! I tested on the day AF was
due & it was +++++, so I'll see what happens next time.
I was totally sure that AF was on her way when my husband
convinced me to take a pregnancy test. My bbs were tender, as
always – but it wasn't until he said, ''uh, honey, I think
they're bigger'' that I thought ... hmmm....
Usually I never get AF cramps until AF arrives. HOWEVER –
had them starting 2 weeks (!) before AF was expected, up until
about 10w pregnant!!!
When I was pregnant with DD, I totally thought AF was coming.
I was crampy & bloated feeling, but AF never came. This time I
thought I HAD AF (bleeding for five days but lightly), but it turned
out I was pregnant! (Never would have known if I hadn't been
temping & the temps were really high.)
Oh yeah, I held off on taking the test b/c I had AF cramps,
the kind that have you running to the toilet, tampon in hand –
I would have bet $$$ it was here. Then I'd get to the bathroom
and ... nothing. After a week of this, I gave in and took the
test. I'd read that this happens sometimes, but I was surprised
at how *exactly* it felt like AF was here.
I had major AF cramps and all my other AF symptoms with both
of my pregnancies. I didn't test this last time until 18dpo,
which was 6 days late for me, because I was so convinced it
was coming – I was shocked when the test turned immediately
positive.
Not for me. I just woke up and realized I had not started
the day before ... no cramps, no bleeding no nothing – just a good
old hike from the AF fairy!
Oh, yeah! I definitely thought AF was coming. I am almost 3
months pg, and still sometimes I feel like AF is coming. You
just never know.
I'm with everyone else. I also thought AF was coming. Actually,
I had what I thought was AF for 3 days, when in fact it was
implantation bleeding. I just happened to buy some tests via mail
order and when they arrived, I took one. Imagine my surprise. To
this day, I still get what I think are AF symptoms.
When I was pg with DS, I was sure AF was coming. It took me a
week of AF being late to finally say maybe I should take an HPT.
With this pg, I knew I was pg. Since having my son, I never get
premenstrual cramps anymore, so as soon as I started cramping,
I knew.
ME ME ME – in fact, I had gone to my general practitioner to get
my allergy medication filled, and he asked me when my LMP was. I
was only a day late at the time, which is NOT abnormal for me. My
response was, ''I am about to start any minute, because I am
cramping and my boobs are sore.'' These have ALWAYS been symptoms
of my period. The Dr insisted I take a PG test, and it was POSITIVE!!
I was CONVINCED that AF was coming ... I didn't want to waste a
test, but my dh insisted, and I WAS PG!!!!
I was a charter, and my temps were unusually high, so I was
fairly convinced that I was PG. I didn't expect AF, but I did have
some crampiness.
I had AF cramps on and off until I was 10 wks.
Absolutely!! I ran to the bathroom for 4 days straight just
swearing that AF had started, and lo and behold, it never came.
ABSOLUTELY!!!! I was sure that AF was coming! I ran to the
potty every ten minutes, armed with a tampon ... but nothing!
Oh, yes – I kept running to check, expecting a big mess, but
nothing.
Yup! I was positive it was coming any second! I had my
usual PMS symptoms, so I didn't think I was pg ... I had AF cramps
until 12 weeks, and get them occasionally at 33 weeks.
Other Early Pregnancy Symptoms
Here are the symptoms I had, and the dpo I noticed them (I kept a day journal)!
4dpo and on – Very tired.
8dpo – Face and shoulder breaking out, very irritable.
9dpo – Temp dip – thought it was over!
10dpo – Huge glob of stretchy white cm.
9dpo and on – Very wet cm, and lots of it!
12dpo and on – Temps up.
Tested 16dpo (2 days late). Frequent urination, food aversions, metal mouth, slight spotting, abundance of wet cm, high temps, lost weight (but no m/s).
Absolutely nothing!
And again, I say BITCHINESS!!!!
More tender than usual breasts. Tenderness didn't go away
before AF as it usually does. AF didn't show up on time. That's
really it!
3dpo & 4dpo – Butterflies in stomach, but not nauseous; mild
cramping (ovulation type).
5dpo – Serious AF cramps (thought I was going to start two weeks early!).
8dpo – AF cramps (low down), sharp pain left ovary in p.m., mild AF
cramps just above pubic bone (all across), bloated.
10dpo – Morning temp 37.2 (98.96), serious AF cramps in late p.m.,
''who-ha'' entrance much wetter (tip of C soft).
11dpo – Serious cramping R all day (sharp pains running over my
R hip to lower back) – fever of 100.9 F. (N.B. Found out later I had a
corpus luteum cyst.)
12dpo – Cramps (pain) in R side all day, though milder than yesterday;
CF abundant.
13dpo – Tested – BFN – Pain in bellybutton (like someone poked their
finger in it), and the feeling continues from there down the middle of
my stomach; slight heartburn/nausea.
14dpo – Mild pain in belly button, very tired.
15dpo – Bad cramps (pain) in R side, AF cramps (straight across) in late p.m., belly button pain, got up early 5 a.m.
16dpo – Got up early again.
17 dpo – Pelvic pain continues (1/2 day of work only), woke up at
5 a.m. (2 hours early).
18 & 19 dpo – Pelvic pain consistent (no work, lied flat all day).
Slight belly button pain. AF arrived (so I thought), but blood was brown
and light. Read up on this site & others regarding menstruation
and pregnancy. Woke up early 5 a.m.
20 dpo – Woke up really early (3:30), had to pee! Tested ++++++.
(Pain in lower back straight across, sciatica on R aggravated.)
Note: I didn’t chart temps, only CP & CF. CP was high for 5 days
(during O), and we BD x 2 during that time – once on the highest day.
No egg white this month to go by. CP started to lower slightly after
that and firm up, but then seemed to go back up 5 days later, and
soften significantly at the tip after 10 days. CF dried up after O,
then got very lotiony (though not abundant), with a few creamy days
thrown in. When I got AF, didn’t make sense because CP was high &
soft still, instead of low & firm.
Frequent urination starting immediately after conception. Sore
breasts.
I have my PG signs listed in my journal...feel free to check it out!
Before I tested positive, nothing! I didn't even want to do
the beta, but I was in fertility treatment, so I had to. About a week
after a positive beta, I had a lot of AF-type cramping (5.5 weeks),
and a week after that, m/s kicked in full swing.
Ovulation was somewhere around May 21. Don't know exactly when,
because I was not charting. AF was due June 8th or 9th or so.
Usually 2 weeks before AF my boobs get sore, but they didn't until
about June 6th. Tested afternoon of June 6th; it was negative.
Didn't start AF on Saturday morning; decided to test, and it was
positive. It was only after I tested positive (within a couple
days) that I started frequent peeing and sore boobs. Otherwise,
very few symptoms.
2 dpo – Breast tenderness. Increasing cm (including white
chunky cm); AF cramping.
9 dpo – Cervix soft and high, vaginal area dark blue-purple.
10 dpo – Tested + with EFR (very faint).
Urinary frequency (bad!) at about 14 dpo, along with AF-like
cramping and breast tenderness.
Bitchiness!! ;) But heck, I still have that!! LMAO.
Period-like cramps, sore bb's, sick to my stomach. That's
about it!
Change in sense of taste & smell.
Change in smell/texture of vaginal discharge. (Sorry if that's
too gross for some, but I know what ''pregnant'' smells like!)
Annoying yeast infection ... both times for me. Yuckkk!!! That's
how I found out the second time.
Porn-star nipples, metal mouth, teenage acne, fatigue, couldn't
drink OJ, tea, coffee or alcohol, went off all animal products,
cramps, the emotional stability of a newborn ... shall I continue?
Oh, yes – and all my ligaments EVERYWHERE went phomf and I looked
like a motor way map with blue veins EVERYWHERE, too! (They've still
not gone...).
Extreme exhaustion (before I even knew I was pregnant) and sore
bb's. At about 6 weeks pg, really bad nausea.
Extremely sensitive smell.
Most of the same as everyone else. A few others were
light-headedness (in the shower mainly) and gagging (or vomiting)
EVERY time I brushed my teeth. Almost from implantation to delivery!
Metal mouth, sensitive gag reflex, thought I had the flu (mild
nausea), different smelling urine, areolas starting to darken.
For me, I had no symptoms whatsoever way into my 2nd
month of pregnancy.
The funny thing too is that c/m feels a lot like you are
''leaking'', so for the first 10 weeks of pg, every time I felt
something THERE, I ran to the loo expecting to have AF – except
that each time I did, there was nothing. So after all this time,
I'm used to that yucky ''leaky'' feeling & have learned to
wear panty shields every day for freshness & to stop undie
staining – yup, c/m stains!! I'm going to have to soak all my
undies in Napisan for a week!!
